5 Reasons Why We Love Embroidery

5 Reasons Why We Love Embroidery

We love embroidery here at Red Tomato and there are so many reasons why. We believe it adds a perfect touch of class to your promotional products and really helps maintain your brand image. Keep reading to find out the five reasons why we love this decoration technique!

1. It’s easy

Embroidery is the only decoration method that doesn’t require your logo to be in a vector file. A jpeg file is perfectly acceptable here. Normally, we would recommend having a vector file anyway as it’ll make it easier for future projects – however, if you’re in a rush and don’t have time to enlist the help of a designer then this may be the decoration method for you! You also don’t have to pay for the number of colours you use, pricing will usually include the use of up to four colours.

2. Personalisation

In a world of one-to-one marketing, embroidery fits right in. You’re able to quickly add names, birthdays or important dates to your products. We find that this helps with employee engagement in industries with a high turnover rate. If you’re in the construction business why not add your employee’s names to polo shirts, jackets or safety vests? It’s a simple, cost-effective way to make your employee feel valued and special.

3. Embroidery has stood the test of time

The first record of embroidery dates back to 30,000BC. In the twenty-first century, it’s more commonly used for promotional products. In recent years Dolce and Gabanna, Chanel and several other fashion houses have started to use embroidery as a major part of their designs – why not take inspiration from them? Get creative!

4. New techniques to love

Yes, embroidery is very old and when you think of it you may think of your Great Aunt. However, embroidery is constantly evolving. There are a few things we can do to help mix it up if you’re not sold on the classic style:

1. Gradient colours – Although this is still a new technique and can be challenging at times, with the right logo it’s entirely possible. Using embroidery is a great way to add gradient colours when screen printing or digital printing isn’t suitable for your promotional merchandise.

2. 3D embroidery – 3D effects certainly pack a punch and will definitely get your brand recognised. It works best on logos with minimal colours and especially bold fonts.

3. Embroidery patches – Embroidery patches are not necessarily new but they are under-estimated! Embroidery patches are a great way to let your clientele customise their own promotional products. We find this works well for sports teams that have lots of sponsors – why not supply a backpack with a handful of embroidery patches to allow your clients to get creative?

5. Oh the things you’ll do

Polo shirts aren’t the only thing you can embroider. There is a wide range of promotional products available which you can customise with embroidery. Duffel bags, backpacks, headwear, scarves, beach towels, blankets and of course apparel are all suitable for embroidery.

We hope we’ve given you some gusto to experiment with embroidery with your next promotional products venture! Still stuck for ideas to rejuvenate your merchandise? Click here and we’ll help you plan your next campaign!
